Heming Wang
Heming Wang, male, is a Tenured Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Northeastern University, China. He graduated from Northeastern University in 2012 with a Doctor’s degree of Industrial Ecology (jointly supervised by Prof. Zhongwu Lu and Prof. Yuichi Moriguchi). His main research interest includes AI for Science and Sustainability Assessment of Material and Energy Systems. He teaches the undergraduate course Industrial Ecology, which is recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Course.
Currently, he serves as Associate Editor of Journal of Cleaner Production (CAS Tier 1 TOP Journal), Resources, Environment and Sustainability (CAS Tier 1 TOP Journal), Guest Editor of Journal of Industrial Ecology and Carbon Footprints, Secretary-General of the Industrial Ecology Committee (Chinese Society of Ecology), and Deputy Secretary-General of Industrial Ecological Economy and Technology Committee (Chinese Society of Ecological Economics). During 2024-2025, he served as Guest Managing Editor of Resources, Conservation & Recycling (CAS Tier 1 TOP Journal).
As Principal Investigator (PI), he has led 3 General Programs and 1 Youth Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published a number of peer-reviewed papers as the first or corresponding author in high-level journals including Nature Sustainability, Nature Geoscience, Nature Water, and Nature Communications. He has been awarded honors such as the National First-Class Undergraduate Course Achievement, First Prize of Liaoning Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, and Second Prize of Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Academic Achievement Award.
Main Research Focuses: AI for Science, and Sustainability Assessment of Material and Energy Systems.
