Evaluation of Hydroformability of TRIP Steel Tubes by Flaring Test

摘要:In this study, a newly developed high-strength thin-walled seamless steel tube with a transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) microstructure was evaluated by a conical flaring test for determining hydroformability. The TRIP steel tube of 600 MPa grade was produced by a new technique. In general, pushing a conical tool into a tube until the onset of fracture is known as the flaring test, which is a suitable conventional test for evaluating the circumferential ductility and material behavior of the tube. To investigate the hydroformability of the TRIP steel tube, the flaring test was studied experimentally and numerically. To confirm the circumferential ductility of the TRIP steel tube, the Oyane ductile criterion was used, and the Oyane ductile fracture parameters were determined by the flaring test with different conical tool angles. From the results, it was found that the flaring limit of the TRIP steel tube increases with the increase of the semi-angle of the conical tool.
