Microstructure Evolution of TRIP Seamless Steel Tube in Free Hydraulic Bulge Process

- Abstract:The hollow structures manufactured with the tube hydroforming process have been widely used in the automobile industry to reduce the weight of automobile body for the purpose of vehicle emissions reduction and improve the fuel efficiency.To ensure the safety of the automobile and manufacture the parts with complex shapes, the hollow parts produced with tubular materials should have a high strength as well as good formability.The transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) seamless steel tube which was expected to be used in the tube hydroforming process was successfully developed by the authors.The investigation results of the mechanical properties demonstrated that the TRIP seamless steel tubes have high strength and excellent formability and are suitable to be used in the hydroforming process.The present study focused on the microstructure evolution of TRIP seamless steel tube in free hydraulic bulge process.The free hydraulic bulge process was carried out with an internal pressure boosting velocities of 0.5MPa/s and the feeding punch
